Our Story
Founded in 2016 by Michael Meteling, International Scanners LLC was born from a vision to bring world-class, German-engineered scanners to the U.S. market through a fresh and innovative approach. Leveraging his experience at InoTec GmbH, Michael partnered with the German manufacturer to introduce unmatched quality and service to American businesses. “After years at InoTec, I saw the opportunity to bring not just the best scanners to the U.S., but to pair them with a level of service the industry hadn’t seen, alongside software that transforms unstructured data into structured digital information,” said Michael Meteling.
With InoTec’s support, Michael launched the U.S.-based company and soon joined forces with April Madden, forming what is now known as interScan. “From the beginning, our visions aligned. I knew there was a better way to deliver top-tier technology and service—centered on customer needs and rooted in integrity,” said April Madden.
interScan customized InoTec’s scanner lineup to meet the unique needs of North American clients and expanded its portfolio through a partnership with Japan-based Primagest, offering high-performance, open-track scanners at a competitive price point. Beyond hardware, interScan collaborates with software leaders such as Planet AI, SRZ, and Optimal Systems to provide integrated solutions for document capture, intelligent processing, and enterprise content management.
interScan proudly supports organizations like Amazon, Dominion Voting Systems, and Iron Mountain, along with key government agencies including the Department of Justice, Library of Congress, and various Secretaries of State. Our Leadership Team
Michael Meteling, CEO & Co-Owner
Michael Meteling is a seasoned sales executive and technology professional with over 40 years of vast technology experience and expertise in Document Management. He began his career at Nixdorf Computer AG, working with Super Mini Computers before transitioning to Prime Computervision in Boston, where he focused on CAD/CAM systems. Michael was recruited by FileNet, where he specialized in document management systems, and later became a key partner, co-founding Classen Convertronics in Germany and collaborating with Tropper Data Service. His expertise expanded through key leadership roles at ScanOptic and Dicom Kofax, where he established himself as a true expert in the Document Management industry. Michael was then recruited by Inotec GmbH, where he established and executed sales strategies for their high-volume scanning and production scanners, leading them to record sales for years.
Michael’s experience, combined with his vision, helps to drive interScan’s success and expansion in the market. He is dedicated to providing market-leading products and implementing cutting-edge solutions, such as AI, to process digitized documents into full-content data. Michael continues to learn and develop new technology solutions and combinations for real-world environments.
April Madden, COO/CMO & Co-Owner
April Madden is the co-owner and co-founder of interScan, bringing over 30 years of expertise in high-tech sales, marketing, and operations, with a focus on Document Management and Business Process Improvement. Her extensive career spans all facets of the industry, starting as Purchasing Manager at reseller GSI and later being recruited into a Director of Product Management role at distributor Ingram Micro. April took on a new challenge as the Director of Sales and Marketing at LizardTech to help launch their product into the Document Management market, which ultimately led to her work with scanner manufacturers like Böwe Bell + Howell and Kodak Alaris, managing global strategic accounts.
Additionally, April spent years as a Fractional C-level executive in manufacturing, a marketing firm, and crypto mining companies, which provides her with a unique combination of business acumen, deep industry knowledge, and a strong professional network that enables her to create exceptional programs and tailored solutions for customers, resellers, and partners. Her commitment to innovation and excellence drives her to ensure interScan's success in the dynamic, evolving tech landscape.
Dr. Olaf Holst, VP of Solutions & Technology
Dr. Olaf Holst is Vice President Solutions & Technology at Interscan LLC, driving the evolution of industrial-grade document capture into an AI-centric, on-premises intelligence platform. He leads the convergence of high-performance scanning hardware with advanced AI capabilities, including large-scale OCR, handwritten and historical document recognition, image enhancement, and LLM-based semantic understanding. His mission is to transform static documents into structured, actionable knowledge — securely, at scale, and without compromising data sovereignty.
With over 30 years of experience across enterprise software, AI, and document technologies, Dr. Holst brings a rare combination of deep technical insight and executive-level go-to-market expertise. Having shaped software and AI strategies at global organizations such as Kyocera, OPTIMAL SYSTEMS and DMG Mori, he is recognized for translating complex technologies into resilient, future-proof solutions. At Interscan, he defines the long-term product vision, guides interdisciplinary engineering teams, and positions the company at the forefront of AI-powered document intelligence for enterprise and public-sector customers.
Wayne Marto, VP of Sales
Wayne Marto is Vice President of Sales at interScan LLC, where he leads North American sales strategy and execution to drive revenue growth, expand strategic customer relationships, and support increasing market demand. With more than 20 years of senior sales leadership experience across enterprise hardware, software, and intelligent capture solutions, Wayne is known for translating strategy into execution and building high-performing, customer-centric sales organizations.
Prior to joining interScan, Wayne held leadership roles at ibml, Lexmark International, Fujitsu Computer Products, and Hyland Software. Most recently, as Director of Channel Sales at ibml, he led a North America-wide partner enablement strategy across VARs, ISVs, and BPOs—driving sustained revenue growth, strengthening strategic alliances, and earning Salesman of the Year recognition.
